IT Delivery Manager
Job Description

External IT Delivery Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the successful execution of software and infrastructure projects delivered by third-party development teams. This position is focused on delivery coordination—not vendor operations or procurement—and is responsible for aligning outsourced work with internal technical standards, managing delivery timelines, and ensuring high-quality outcomes. The manager acts as the central point of contact between internal stakeholders and external developers, driving predictable, secure, and technically sound project results.

Core Responsibilities:

Delivery Planning & Coordination: Develop structured delivery plans with clear milestones and timelines. Ensure external teams understand scope, dependencies, and expectations from the outset.
Technical & Quality Alignment: Validate that all deliverables meet internal architecture, coding, and security standards. Oversee documentation, testing, and CI/CD integration before acceptance.
Execution Oversight: Monitor progress across multiple outsourced projects, proactively manage risks, and adjust plans to maintain delivery predictability.
Dependency & Risk Management: Identify cross-team dependencies and remove delivery blockers. Maintain a risk register and implement mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate regular updates between internal teams and external developers. Ensure alignment on goals, priorities, and delivery status.
Issue Resolution: Act as the escalation point for delivery-related challenges. Coordinate resolution plans and communicate outcomes clearly.
Performance Monitoring: Track delivery KPIs such as velocity, quality gates, and milestone adherence. Use data to drive continuous improvement in delivery practices.

Required Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum 5 years in IT project delivery, software development leadership, or managing outsourced technical teams.
Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of SDLC, architecture principles, and modern development practices (e.g., CI/CD, cloud services).
Project Management: Skilled in Agile methodologies and familiar with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
Quality & Compliance: Knowledge of software QA processes and IT compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
Communication & Leadership: Excellent coordination, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. Able to lead delivery across distributed teams.
